Engineered quartz is composed of natural quartz and granite particles, mixed with special polymers. Quartz is stronger than granite. It never needs to be resealed, and it's non-porous, so stains typically aren't an issue. Quartz is not as resistant as granite when it comes to heat, so trivets or hot pads must be used to protect the counter top. At this time quartz is used for indoor use only.
